Line editing is often used interchangeably with the term copyediting. In this case, it is the middleman between developmental editing and copyediting.
I’ll go through your manuscript line by line to analyze your sentence structure and ensure the flow and meaning of your sentences come through. I’ll also look at the following:
- Word choice in relation to character voice
- Cliché and awkward metaphors
- Effectiveness of sentence-level narration
- Letter, word, line, and paragraph spacing
- Pace and flow: special attention to repetition and overwriting
- Problematic representation, stereotyping, and othering
- Told versus shown prose
